Gottfried Honegger, born in 1917 in Zurich, is one of the most important tangible artists of his generation internationally. He began as a successful commercial artist in Paris, Zurich and New York. In the 1950ies Honegger decided to concentrate fully on liberal art. Since then his works have been exhibited in famous institutions throughout the world and his art can be found in important collections. Yet, Gottfried Honegger's interest in applied art has remained. He has always maintained that art, life and the daily routine should be directly linked to each other and that a chair or a carpet is just as valuable as a picture on the wall or a sculpture in a room.
